Are veneers permanent?
Yes and no.
Placing dental veneers involves removing a small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth. This is done so that the veneers will look natural once they are placed. Once enamel is removed, it doesn’t grow back. This means that you will always need to wear veneers. So in this sense, veneers are permanent.
The actual veneers themselves will last about five to ten years. You can extend the length of your veneers by practicing excellent home hygiene, limiting foods and beverages that can stain, and avoid biting down on hard items such as ice. Regular check-ups at Chesterfield Valley Dental are necessary so that we can keep an eye on the condition of your veneers and make sure that they are in great shape.
If a veneer happens to become dislodged, please let us know right away. We may be able to re-bond it. If the veneer is damaged, however, we will need to replace it. Veneers are an investment in yourself, and taking good care of this investment will help your smile look good for years.
