- Energy Drinks - Typically these beverages are very high in sugar, and some are carbonated.
- Tonic or Sparkling Water - The carbonation that adds that pleasant fizz to your sparkling water contributes to wearing away tooth enamel, especially if you are drinking it every day.
- Fruit Juices - All juices contain sugar, but some citrus juices such as orange juice are also highly acidic.
- White Wine - While red wine is known for staining your teeth, white wine is high in acids.
You might have thought that your fizzy water or fruit juices were a better alternative; however, they still pack a powerful punch when it comes to causing tooth decay and cavities due to sugar and carbonation.
The Offenders for Discoloration
Certain beverages such as coffee, tea, and red wine can cause staining and discoloration to your teeth. Can't live without your morning or happy hour favorite? Limit your consumption to one cup of coffee or tea per day, and be sure to brush as soon as you can after drinking them. Using a straw to drink your beverage can also protect against staining.
