How can we help you?
We are always happy to answer your questions and make sure you are informed and comfortable with every aspect of your dental care. To save you time, we've listed some of the questions we hear most often. If you have a question not listed here, please don't hesitate to contact our office.
Yes and no.
Placing dental veneers involves removing a small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth. This is done so that the veneers will look natural once they are placed. Once enamel is removed, it doesn’t grow back. This means that you will always need to wear veneers. So in this sense, veneers are permanent.
How long will veneers last?
The actual veneers themselves will last about five to ten years. You can extend the length of your veneers by practicing excellent home hygiene, limiting foods and beverages that can stain, and avoid biting down on hard items such as ice. Regular check-ups at Chesterfield Valley Dental are necessary so that we can keep an eye on the condition of your veneers and make sure that they are in great shape.
What happens if a veneer falls out?
If a veneer happens to become dislodged, please let us know right away. We may be able to re-bond it. If the veneer is damaged, however, we will need to replace it. Veneers are an investment in yourself, and taking good care of this investment will help your smile look good for years.

Porcelain veneers are often a great choice for transforming a smile, but they may not be right for everybody.
We may recommend veneers if you:
- Have healthy teeth that are free from decay
- Are free from gum disease
- Don’t have any concerns with grinding or clenching your teeth
- Have proper bite alignment
- Have a sufficient quantity of healthy tooth enamel
We can use veneers to fix a number of cosmetic flaws, including:
- Chips or cracks
- Gaps between teeth
- Unusually shaped teeth
- Teeth that are too short
- Stains and discolorations
- Mild misalignments
If you have any conditions that might cause us not to recommend veneers, don’t worry. In some cases, treatment of the condition can make veneers an option once again. We can also consider other cosmetic options that can both address the problem and improve the appearance of your smile.
