Porcelain Fillings
Chesterfield and St. Louis, Missouri
While we offer a variety of tooth restoration options to treat cavities and tooth decay, St. Louis cosmetic dentists Dr. Robert Goldman and Dr. Jeffrey Yenzer often recommend porcelain fillings due to the high quality results they yield.
Benefits of Porcelain Fillings
Porcelain fillings, also called porcelain inlays and onlays, provide you with a highly durable, natural looking tooth restoration that will result in both an extremely functional and aesthetically pleasing treatment. These fillings are made out of a porcelain composite material which matches your tooth enamel in color, hardness, and thermal expansion.
Porcelain fillings offer you the following benefits over other filling materials:
- Durability – they are the longest lasting filling material available and may last as long as 30 years if cared for properly
- Translucency – the porcelain material used mimics many of the translucency qualities of natural tooth enamel, making the restoration virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth
- Strength – the porcelain material used will actually strengthen your tooth, making it more durable than your surrounding natural tooth structure
- Stain resistant – your porcelain fillings will not discolor over time due to staining agents such as red wine, coffee, or cigarettes
- Shape – porcelain fillings can restore a damaged tooth to its normal shape.
- Custom fit – porcelain fillings are custom-made to fit your tooth.
Your Porcelain Filling Procedure
Your porcelain fillings will take several visits to complete, since they must be created in a lab before Dr. Goldman or Dr. Yenzer can apply them to your tooth.
At your first visit, our St. Louis cosmetic dentists will remove all decay from your tooth and shape it to accommodate your new filling. We will then take a mold of your tooth which will be sent to the lab for the creation of your custom filling. We use May Dental Lab, the finest lab in St. Louis, for all of our porcelain restorations in order to ensure you receive the highest quality product available.
At your next visit, Dr. Goldman or Dr. Yenzer will bond your new filling to your tooth using a special high-intensity light which hardens the bonding agent and permanently attaches your filling to your tooth.
Schedule a complimentary cosmetic dentistry consultation* today and receive a free professional tooth whitening treatment worth $400-500. Please contact our St. Louis cosmetic dentists today, serving Chesterfield and St. Louis, Missouri.
