The Dental Crown Process

Your dental crown procedure will be completed in the following manner:

  • First you will visit one of our Missouri cosmetic dentists for a thorough oral evaluation. Digital X-rays are taken and your teeth and gums are examined closely.
  • During your next visit, Dr. Goldman or Dr. Yenzer will take careful measurements of your tooth and any additional photography that may be needed to ensure precise specifications.
  • The enamel is reduced to make room for your new crown. In some cases where the enamel is worn down, we may use bonding material to build-up the tooth first. We will then take impressions of the tooth and your biting surfaces.
  • Using the CAD/CAM equipment, your dental crown is milled from tooth-colored zirconium for a very lifelike restoration. Advanced photography technology will be used to help customize the aesthetics of your crown.
  • The tooth and gum tissue are anesthetized, your new dental crown is bonded into place and reshaped to fit your bite.
